Affiliate entities are an important part of the campus public safety community. They include groups such as federal agencies, associations serving institutions of higher education, and professional and nonprofit organizations. We have compiled a list of these affiliates, listed alphabetically, for your easy reference. This is a "living list" that will continue to grow and expand over time. Under the Shield
Law enforcement personnel statistically lead our society in suicide, alcohol and substance abuse, domestic violence, divorce, depression, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Under the Shield provides support for law enforcement personnel and their families through confidential services, education, and public awareness. Under the Shield offers resiliency and solution based training programs, downloadable eductional materials, and an online stress evaluation.
United Educators (UE)
UE provides liability insurance and risk management services to nearly 1,300 members representing thousands of schools, colleges, and universities throughout the United States. Founded in 1987 as a risk retention group, UE is owned and governed by the educational institutions it insures. Members range from small independent schools to multicampus public universities.
University Risk Management and Insurance Association (URIMA)
URIMA's mission is to advance the discipline of risk management in higher education. URMIA is a source of innovative and effective risk management ideas and solutions to the challenges facing institutions of higher education in the pursuit of their academic, social, and economic goals. URIMA's goals are: to protect the reputation and resources, both human and financial, of institutions of higher education through the incorporation of sound risk management practices into all aspects of their operations; to make available the best and most complete risk management information for institutions of higher education; and to provide excellent professional development opportunities for risk management professionals in higher education.
